Downwinder Paracuru – Guajiru, 48km

Map Paracuru - Guajiru

We had breakfast at our pousada and then headed to the kite spot. With the low tide the water is flat and we were eager to practice some tricks. Unfortunately it was quite crowded and there were lots of beginner kiters. We kited until noon and then had a light lunch. I had a fish soup and Paul had Isca de Peixe (fish fingers). Coconut water is a great source of hydration so we had two each plus a water before starting our next downwinder.

Downwinder Cumbuco – Paracuru, 43km

Map Cumbuco - Paracuru

After endless phone calls with AA our bags finally arrived at Fortaleza airport last night. We were first told that they would be delivered to our hotel in Cumbuco. But just when we were ready to go out to dinner, we found out that we had to go to the airport to pick them up. We informed our driver Francesco that the bags arrived and that we can start our downwinder as planned. Francesco usually does group downwinders together with Monika and Thomas (https://sites.google.com/site/brasiliandownwinden/home) but we decided to do it on our own – just Paul and me. Francesco followed us with his pick-up truck driving along the beach at the cost of 550R$ a day.

Bom dia, São Paulo!

IMG_1578 copy6:30am We arrived at São Paulo Airport (GRU) but none of our bags did. This means no kites. Not the best way to start a kite trip. In two days we are suppose to start our downwinder from Cumbuco to Jericoacoara. Hopefully all goes well and the bags will be delivered to our hotel in Cumbuco on time. We filled out the form at the AA counter and headed to the national terminal  to catch our TAM flight to Fortaleza.

At least they have Starbucks @GRU Airport 😉
