Delta do Parnaíba – A magical place!

Our new driver picked us up at our pousada to continue our journey. His name is Airton, but everybody calls him “my friend”. Super nice Brazilian guy, 45 years old. He doesn’t speak English but a little bit of Spanish. We drove about 2-3 hours to the Delta do Parnaíba. Airton parked the car and we loaded Frank’s boat with our kite equipment and suitcase.

As it wasn’t windy yet, Frank gave us a little tour through the river before checking-in to our pousada Casa de Caboclo. We saw monkeys and four-eyed fishes (quatro olho) and a bird fishing a small water snake.

Arriving at Casa de Caboclo:

The room has A/C and is very spacious which is nice as we have all the kite equipment with us.

It’s a really special place and the dream of any Freestyle freak like me. Absolutely LOVED IT! I was on my 6m Cabrinha Siren. I gave Airton my 8m Cabrinha Siren and Paul was on the 10m Cabrinha Switchblade. Paul attached a GoPro to the kite and had another one on his head and was filming me and Airton. Towards the end the wind got lighter. We had to hurry because we wanted to kite back downwind to the pousada through the river. The wind was light but being the only kiters there was amazing! What a great experience!

Dinner at Casa de Caboclo was good. Fish soup, Iscas de Peixe (fish fingers), grilled fish filet, salad, rice, french fries, beer, Caipirinhas… While having dinner with Airton, we were reviewing the GoPro videos and were quite happy with the results. What a great day! This place is definitely magical!
