Downwinder Paracuru – Guajiru, 48km

Map Paracuru - Guajiru

We had breakfast at our pousada and then headed to the kite spot. With the low tide the water is flat and we were eager to practice some tricks. Unfortunately it was quite crowded and there were lots of beginner kiters. We kited until noon and then had a light lunch. I had a fish soup and Paul had Isca de Peixe (fish fingers). Coconut water is a great source of hydration so we had two each plus a water before starting our next downwinder.

Downwinder Paracuru-Guajiru notes

From Paracuru to Lagoinha it is not possible drive at the beach which means nobody can follow you. Most of the group downwinders skip that part as it is not save. We believed in our abilities and told Francesco to meet us in Lagoinha and follow us again from Lagoinha to Guajiru. I was on my Cabrinha Siren size 8 again and Paul on the 10m Cabrinha Switchblade. Once again we had loooooooots of big waves. The dream of anybody on a surfboard! For us it was challenging again especially the Paracuru-Lagoinha part because we were completely on our own. We saw lots of small and big sea turtles.

Francesco chose a really nice accomodation for us – Vila Vagalume. We were the only ones there and we really enjoyed the peacefulness.

For dinner we went to Nônô Restaurante e Pizzaria in the nearby town Flecheiras. Francesco joined us for dinner. The food was awesome. I had fish with passion fruit sauce. So yummy. We resisted to have a Caipirinha today. Maybe tomorrow again;-)
