Insano! Pre-flight Thrill

The Insano water slide – Beach Park, Fortaleza, Brazil

The Insano water slide is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as being the tallest water slide in existence as of 2012.  The Insano tops at 41 meters high, which is approximately 135 feet – the equivalent in height to a 14-story building. The drop takes about 5 seconds from top to bottom and riders can reach a speed of over 65 miles per hour. Constructed in 1989, the thrill ride attracts daredevils from all over the world.

Will I dare it?

I wasn’t so sure about it myself. Somehow I knew I would. Paul has done it before. I have to keep up with him 😉 We had to be at the airport by 3pm to start our travel back home. We checked the opening hours of Beach Park (https://www.beachpark.com.br/) to make sure we had enough time to go to the park. The park opens at 11am. Ticket counter open at 10:30am. We bought our ticket and were at the Insano slide at 11:05. Unfortunately some slides including the Insano won’t open till noon. We did some other really crazy and fun slides while waiting. Some of them would have deserved the name Insano as well 😛 The staff allowed Paul to have his GoPro camera on his head. The result is the video above!

Finally the Insano opened. I was second in line and the look on my face must have been really scared. Seriously, the Insano is insane! But looooooots of fun as well. What an adrenaline kick! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

We took our taxi back to Cumbuco, had a quick shower, grabbed our stuff, board bags etc. and headed to Fortaleza Airport.

Good-bye, Brazil! See you next year!
